What is the Drive Michigan Forward campaign about?

Together, we can make Michigan a place where freedom is for everyone. We all want the right to care for our loved ones and to move freely without feeling like a target. To do that, we all need the right to obtain a driver's license, regardless of how long we've been here or what documentation we have.

What can I do?

1. Sign and share our petition to be granted a hearing. Filling out this quick form sends an email to key legislators who can move this bill forward - and it only takes a couple minutes of your time!

2. Sign up for our upcoming Phone Bank Training, then sign up for a Phone Banking Shift. We’ll be walking you through how to make calls effectively and quickly, what words to say, and answer any questions you may have. We have phone banking shifts Mon. through Fri. the entire second week of Lame Duck.

3. Share our Drive Michigan Forward Panel Facebook event, and join our champion Senators on Tuesday, Dec. 1st at 6:30 pm at the panel.

4. Visit and share our website.

What are we fighting for?

We are urging members of the Michigan House of Representatives Transportation Committee to support the Drive SAFE House Bills 5192 and 5193 and to move forward with granting a hearing to these bills before the end of the year. These bills are part of the Drive SAFE package (Senate Bills 0631/0632 and House Bills 5192/5193) and were introduced in 2019 and allow all Michiganders to access a state ID or driver's license with proof of identity and Michigan residency, regardless of citizenship status.

5. Make calls yourself! Can’t go to a phonebank or can’t wait to make calls? Call Representative Jack O'Malley at 517-373-0825 using the script below. If you want to make more calls, use this contact list for the rest of the House Transportation committee members.

I urge you to support the Drive SAFE House Bills 5192 and 5193 and to move forward with granting a hearing to these bills before the end of the year. These bills were introduced in 2019 and your vote is key to allow all Michiganders to access a state ID or driver’s license with proof of identity and Michigan residency, regardless of citizenship status. There is urgency to give these bills a hearing. Please act now!
